Marble for cheese
Marble stays cooler than room temperature, which is why it is a classic surface for serving cheese and pastry. It is heavy, so it does not slide on the table, and the white veined look photographs well.
The trade-offs
Marble is porous and can stain from wine, oil or acidic fruit unless wiped soon after use. It is heavy to ship and it dulls knives if used for cutting. Engraving directly on marble is possible on some products but gives a light, low-contrast mark, so marble boards in this catalog usually carry the logo on a bamboo section instead.
A small selection
