Which knife does what

A cheese set usually combines three or four shapes. The spade (or chisel) breaks off pieces of hard cheese like Parmesan. A flat knife or cheese plane slices semi-hard cheese like cheddar. A pronged knife cuts and serves in one move. A soft-cheese knife with a hollow or narrow blade keeps brie from sticking. Slicers and wire cutters make even slices for a platter.

Decoration on small items

Tool sets have small imprint areas: often a single handle, up to about two square inches, or the lid of the case. Simple logos and wordmarks engrave well; detailed artwork may need to be simplified. The free digital proof shows the result at actual size.

Pairing tools with boards

If you are buying boards and knives for the same people, a cheese board set is usually simpler and cheaper than ordering the two separately.
